Come join us at the 2013 Children Desiring God Conference as we share a vision to see the next generation "worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness" and "tremble before him."1 We want them to "be jubilant with joy!"2
Oh for a generation that can tremble and be glad! A generation that sees God seated on his glorious throne3, clothed with splendor and majesty4, high and lifted up5 with angels, elders, and living creatures on their faces before him.6 A generation that can with confidence draw near to this throne of grace7 through Jesus Christ by whom we can cry, "Abba! Father!"8 to this infinitely glorious and majestic God!
The burden of this conference is that we not lose sight of the whole Gospel, which includes this glorious approachability to God that we have as children of our Heavenly Father, while emphasizing God's holiness, the depth of our sin, and the necessity of our obedience. We want to impress on the next generation our Father's love and acceptance through Christ, without ignoring the glorious perfection of God, His exalted position above us, and the serious consequences of rejecting His counsel and authority. Together may we be humbled by His righteous character, feel our utter dependence on His grace, and follow Him by faith from the overflow of reverent love for Him.
At this conference, we will examine the doctrine of the holiness of God and our call to be like Him. We will ponder how to impart a fear of the Lord to the next generation, and gain practical skills in teaching the next generation and leading a ministry to parents and children. Join us as we encourage each other—pastors, church leaders, children's ministry staff, youth workers, teachers, volunteers, and parents—to exalt in the holiness of the Lord, as we humbly bow before Him together. Together might we along with the future generations proclaim, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!"9
